Reinnder Flock

A watchdog for the poultry house. A camera on the roof ridge, a gateway that keeps working when the internet does not, and a water sensor: three small devices that sit beside the controllers a farm already has.

The kit

Vision Node
A small camera board on the roof ridge, looking down the house, with a temperature and humidity probe and a microphone. The prototype reads temperature, humidity, a relative sound level and a lens-sharpness score once a minute.
Gateway
Receives every reading, stamps it with its own clock and a sequence number, stores it on disk, applies simple heat, cold and humidity rules locally, and sends everything to the cloud in order once the connection is back.
Water node
A low-power sensor on the drinker line to watch water use, reporting over LoRa, a radio that carries a long way with very little power. Planned; not built yet.
Beside the controller
Flock is an independent watchdog: a second pair of eyes for the house. It does not take over a single fan, heater or feeder.

Where it stands

Gateway software
Works and is tested on a bench: through a simulated outage, a power cycle and recovery, the readings arrived in order, with no duplicates and none lost.
Node firmware
Written for a Seeed XIAO ESP32-S3 Sense board with an SHT45 climate sensor. It has not yet been run on hardware.
Next
Run a prototype in a working house, publish what its logs show, and replace each concept shot in the film with real footage.
What we do not claim
No accuracy, savings or health results. The film is a concept film and its shots of the house are concept imagery.

Questions farmers ask

Is Flock available?
Not yet. It is a concept in prototype, and nothing is on sale.
Does it replace my climate controller?
No. It sits beside it and only watches.
What happens when the internet drops?
The gateway keeps the readings safe on its own disk and sends them, in order, when the connection returns. This is the part that has been tested. Read how the test works.
What will it cost, and where will it be sold?
Not decided yet. We would rather prove it in a real house first.
